Position OverviewYou’ll work closely with other Actuarial Associates and Actuaries across Pricing and Reserving teams in our Toronto office.
Note:
This opportunity is with Munich Reinsurance Company of Canada, a property and casualty reinsurer subsidiary of Munich Re.
Work term responsibilities will vary depending on the department you’re placed; which may include, but not be limited to the following:
Underwriting Pricing- Assist in improving reinsurance pricing tools
- Support with reinsurance benchmark rate study
- Participate in setting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and other assumptions
- Assist in reinsurance treaty pricing
- Monitor existing Managing General Agents (MGA) business and evaluate new MGA business opportunities
- Support with facultative, single risks, and MGA pricing as required
- Develop monitoring reports
- Provide additional support in other actuarial areas as needed
First and foremost, we’re looking for well‑rounded individuals who are technically astute, have strong communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to build positive relationships.
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or an equivalent program in good academic standing
- Successful completion of one CAS exam (two or more preferred)
- Excellent communication skills – spoken and written, formal and informal presentation
- Proven ability to multi‑task and self‑manage multiple priorities and projects of varying significance
- Effective working both independently and as part of a team
- Solid organizational skills and rigorous attention to detail/accuracy in a fast‑paced environment
- Demonstrated leadership qualities – clear‑thinking, curiosity, integrity, and drive
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and experienced with spreadsheet and database applications
- Exposure to VBA considered an asset
- Preference for candidates with relevant work experience, or at least one prior placement (approx. 4+ months in‑field experience)
Note that this opportunity is open to current students returning to in‑class studies after the work term, as well as recent graduates who have obtained their degree within the past year.
Our base salary range for this role is between $950 and $1400 per week, plus vacation pay. The salary estimate displayed represents the typical salary ranges for candidates based on the number of relevant co‑op terms completed. This role is located in our Toronto office at 390 Bay St, and we operate in a hybrid work model.
