The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Mortgage Underwriter who understands that lending is about more than just credit scores, it’s about the story and the equity. In this role, you will be responsible for risk assessment, deal structuring, and managing the file flow from submission to funding.
Key Responsibilities- Adjudicate Files: Review and analyze mortgage applications for residential private financing, assessing risk based on equity, property value, and borrower profile.
- Structure Deals: Apply “common sense” lending principles to structure creative solutions for complex borrower scenarios.
- Due Diligence: Verify income documentation (when applicable), credit reports, appraisals, and other conditions to ensure file compliance.
- Broker Communication: Act as a key point of contact for Mortgage Brokers, providing exceptional service, quick turnaround times, and clear communication regarding approvals and conditions.
- Pipeline Management: Manage a high volume of files efficiently, ensuring deadlines are met and deals close on time.
- Experience: Minimum 2+ years of residential mortgage underwriting experience.
- Private Lending: Experience in the private lending space is highly preferred, but we are willing to train top-tier “A” or “B” side underwriters looking to switch.
- Technical
Skills:
Proficiency with industry platforms (Filogix, Velocity, etc.) and Microsoft Office. - Soft Skills: Strong decision-making ability, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
