Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and AI Transformation
Location: Toronto, Montreal or New York City

OpportunityThe Metals Company is advancing toward commercial operations on the world’s largest undeveloped seabed resource of base metals. As a Manager of FP&A and AI Transformation, you will play a pivotal role in financial planning, analysis, and the integration of artificial intelligence to drive efficiency and strategic decision making.
Key Responsibilities Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis- Develop and maintain detailed financial models for mid- to long‑term planning, leveraging AI tools.
- Collaborate with the Project Cost Controller to validate project assumptions.
- Conduct scenario and sensitivity analyses for investment decisions.
- Prepare multi‑year financial reports (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, EBITDA) for leadership.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Identify and implement AI tools to improve efficiency and accuracy in finance processes.
- Drive automation in record‑keeping, reconciliations, expense management, and reporting.
- Ensure process improvements align with SOX controls.
- Partner with technology providers and internal teams to integrate AI solutions.
- Work with department heads to align financial planning with operational priorities.
- Provide insights on cost optimization, capital allocation, and investments.
- Communicate complex financial information clearly to non‑financial stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and external reporting requirements.
- Strengthen internal controls and drive continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the CFO, CAO, and department heads.
- Prepare materials for the Audit Committee, Board, and external stakeholders.
- Foster a culture of integrity, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred.
- 5–7 years’ experience in FP&A, investment banking, or corporate finance in a public company.
- Expertise in financial modeling, scenario analysis, and reporting.
- Experience with major project evaluations (ideally feasibility studies).
- Exposure to digital finance transformation and AI‑assisted solutions.
- Experience in metals, mining, or energy sectors preferred.
- Advanced Excel and PowerPoint; experience with ERP and financial planning tools.
- Familiarity with data analytics platforms and AI applications in finance.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast‑paced, evolving environment.
- Proven success working independently and as part of a team.
- Well‑organized, accountable, and self‑motivated.
- Able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Flexible, adaptable, and comfortable with change.
- High integrity and respect for confidentiality.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse teams.
- Willingness to work across time zones and in a remote environment.
