Position: Game Designer (4-month contract)
Important:  This is a  4-month contract role  for  Ontario-based independent contractors only.  Contractors are responsible for managing their own taxes, CPP contributions, and any other statutory obligations.

Hours:

This is a  hybrid position  with in-person collaboration required at our Toronto office (Queens Quay West) a minimum of  three (3) days per week  for the duration of the 4-month contract. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

About the Role:

We are seeking a creative and highly skilled Game Designer to join our team for a 4-month contract. In this role, you will spearhead the design and conceptualization of 3 new casino slot mini-games, taking them from initial concept to launch. You will play a pivotal role in the design and balancing of these projects, working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver outstanding products.
What You'll Do   Slot Game Design:
Conceptualize and design mechanics, themes, and features for three distinct slot titles within the 4-month timeline
Math & Balancing:
Create or collaborate on the mathematical models (volatility, Return To Player, hit frequency) to ensure engaging player experiences and game economy balance
Documentation:
Specific Game Design Documents (GDDs) and wireframes that clearly communicate mechanics to artists and engineers
Collaborate Cross-Functionally:
Work closely with designers, artists, and engineers to implement new features and enhance existing ones
Feature Tuning:
Iterate on game pacing, audio-visual cues, and juiciness to maximize player retention and excitement
Requirements

Experience:

Minimum of three years of professional experience in Game Design, with a specific focus on Slot or Social Casino games
Contract-Readiness:
Ability to commit to a 4-month timeline and deliver high-quality work autonomously
Portfolio: A portfolio or track record demonstrating previously shipped slot games or casino mechanics
Technical Skills   Strong understanding of slot machine mechanics (lines, ways, bonus features, free spins)
Proficiency in Excel/spreadsheets for modeling game math and probability
Experience writing clear, concise technical specifications and GDDs
Knowledge of mobile or web pipelines
Soft Skills   Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail; we would like you to mention "Kattegat" in your application
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Experience with Unity (strong plus) to better communicate with our engineering team
Understanding of player psychology and monetization strategies in the social casino market
