Globe 24-7 is partnering with a mining client in the Greater Toronto Area to hire an experienced Engineering Manager.

Position Overview

The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading and integrating all engineering activities across mining projects, ensuring safe, high-quality, and cost-effective delivery from study phases through execution. This role establishes and drives engineering strategy aligned with project and organizational objectives while overseeing both internal teams and external engineering service providers.

The position ensures strong technical governance, quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), risk management, and effective cross-functional stakeholder coordination. Through disciplined execution, technical leadership, and collaborative engagement, the Engineering Manager supports operational excellence and sustainable project performance across a multi-asset portfolio.

The Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop and implement engineering plans for project studies and execution phases.
• Lead and manage internal engineering teams and external engineering service providers to deliver projects safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
• Partner with Project Services to identify, engage, and oversee engineering service providers.
• Oversee engineering activities during study phases (remote) and detailed engineering and execution phases (site based as required).
• Provide technical leadership and resolve design and implementation challenges during project execution.
• Ensure engineering designs are practical, optimized, and aligned with project objectives.
• Coordinate with Procurement to define scopes of work, technical specifications, and purchasing requirements in a timely manner.
• Establish and monitor robust QA/QC processes to maintain high engineering standards across all deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Implement proactive risk management practices to identify and mitigate engineering-related risks.
• Engage safety and operational leaders to ensure operability, maintainability, and safety considerations are embedded in engineering designs.
• Act as the primary technical liaison between engineering teams, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare and present technical reports, participate in design reviews, and provide progress updates to project leadership.
• Develop and execute an engineering strategy aligned with overall project objectives in collaboration with senior project leadership.
• Allocate and prioritize engineering resources to meet key milestones and performance targets.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and oversight to engineering personnel and service providers.
• Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and delivery methodologies.
• Stay current with industry advancements and incorporate innovative solutions to enhance project performance.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and disciplined execution within the engineering function.

Qualifications

• University degree in business, engineering, environmental science, communications, or a related discipline associated with sustainability.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in the mining industry, including at least 5 years in a managerial role.
• Demonstrated experience leading mining projects, including both underground and surface operations.
• Strong technical knowledge of mining engineering principles, practices, and technologies.
• Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD and Solid Works.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
• Ability and willingness to travel internationally (approximately 25%).
• Fluency in Spanish is highly preferred.
