POSITION OVERVIEWWe are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical Designer with 1 to 3 years of experience to join our Building Engineering team. The successful candidate will support the design and coordination of electrical systems for commercial, residential, institutional, and industrial buildings. Working under the supervision of senior engineers and project managers, you will assist in developing electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations to help bring building projects from concept to completion.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIESSupport the design and layout of electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, and communication systems.
Prepare CAD and/or Revit drawings, under the supervision of senior staff.
Perform load calculations and assist in developing panel schedules, single line diagrams, and other technical documents.
Coordinate with other disciplines (mechanical, structural, architectural) to ensure cohesive design integration.
Review shop drawings and assist in preparing responses to RFIs (Requests for Information).
Participate in site visits and assist with field reviews and construction inspections.
Assist in the preparation of documentation for permit and tender submissions.
Keep up-to-date with applicable codes and standards such as the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), NEC, and local building regulations.
QUALIFICATIONSEducation and professional association:
Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Be registered as an E.I.T. under the PEO (Profesional Engineers Ontario)
Experience:
1 to 3 years of relevant experience in electrical design for buildings.
Experience with AutoCAD is required; familiarity with Revit MEP is considered a strong asset.
Technical
Skills:
Basic understanding of electrical systems in buildings (lighting, power, life safety).
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., CEC, NEC, CSA).
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Good written and verbal communication.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Willingness to learn and take direction from senior staff.
