The Role
The Mechanical and Electrical Manager will oversee all mechanical and electrical scopes throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring systems are designed, coordinated, and executed to the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance. This role involves close collaboration with project managers, site teams, consultants, and trade partners, providing technical expertise and leadership in planning, reviewing, and managing M&E installations. Regular site visits are required.
Key Responsibilities
Review mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications, and consultant designs for accuracy and constructability.
Identify design gaps and propose effective solutions early in the process.
Coordinate all mechanical and electrical subcontractors for seamless system integration.
Manage sequencing of M&E activities to align with project schedules and critical paths.
Ensure proper installation methods, material quality, andpliance with project requirements.
Conduct routine site inspections to verify design intent, codepliance, and quality standards.
Troubleshoot technical issues related to HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical, life safety, and building automation systems.
Lead M&E discussions in site meetings and maintain strongmunication with all stakeholders.
Assist inpiling turnover documentation.
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering; P.Eng designation is an asset.
Additional training or certification in project/construction management or building systems is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of local building codes, electrical codes, mechanical standards, and best practices.
In-depth understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical distribution.
Experience with shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, andmissioning documentation.
Familiarity with construction scheduling and M&E integration.
Excellent problem-solving,munication, and negotiation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with project management software is an asset.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
