Job DescriptionHitachi Rail STS Canada is looking for an enthusiastic self‑motivated Sr. Project Planner who thrives in a fast‑paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of engineering tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in downtown Toronto, Canada.

Accountabilities- Ability to support project teams by providing schedule insights, critical path analysis, and scenario planning for strategic decision‑making.
- Expert‑level proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6, including development, maintenance, and optimization of complex project schedules.
- Ability to create and manage resource‑loaded schedules, including manpower, equipment, and cost allocation for accurate forecasting and progress tracking.
- Strong experience preparing Time Impact Analyses (TIA) and delay assessments, with the ability to model scenarios and evaluate schedule impacts.
- Skilled in importing, exporting, and integrating schedules across multiple platforms and data sources while ensuring data integrity and version control.
- Advanced capability in Power BI, including creation of dashboards, data modeling, and visual analytics for reporting project KPIs and performance trends.
- Proficient in TILOS (Time‑Location/Linear Scheduling) for linear infrastructure projects (pipelines, rail, transmission lines, etc.) to optimize sequencing and mitigate space/time conflicts.
- Strong understanding of project controls interfaces, including cost control, risk management, procurement, and engineering work streams.
- Assist Lead Planner with the attendance of meetings with the customer and subcontractors regarding scheduling and project issues, ensuring that company interests are fully represented.
- Monitor work in progress to ensure that work is executed in compliance with the requirements of the contract and schedule.
- Execution of other duties as directed by the Lead Planner and/or Project Manager.
- 5 to 8 years of relevant project planning experience.
- Strong experience with using Primavera P6.
- Ability to use Microsoft Project.
- Strong ability to understand and analyze dependency logic and project critical path.
- Highly motivated and adaptable to a time‑sensitive environment in order to respond quickly and effectively to unanticipated high workloads, events, and emergencies.
- Must be able to meet deadlines and effectively handle pressures associated with this role.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, project constituents, third parties and general public.
- 3‑5 years of experience with rail construction projects or with large infrastructure construction projects.
- Experience with schedule analysis tools (Ex. TILOS, Acumen FUSE, Other).
- Excellent understanding of project management techniques, in addition to effective planning and scheduling skills.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills in liaising with project stakeholders in the development of project schedules, while identifying milestones and critical paths.
- Degree in Business or Engineering, Ontario P.Eng highly desirable.
- Clear Criminal Background Check.
$99,300 – $149,000 (CAD)
