Lead Private Cloud Engineer

• The Global Technology and Enterprise Platforms (GTEP) Operations & Engineering team is looking for a team lead for Private Cloud backup service to deploy, operate, troubleshoot, support backup and migration activities in scope of Scotiabank On-prem Private Cloud, GCVE in public cloud and GCE, as well as implementation end to end backup testing services.
• Working with various Global Technology and Enterprise Platforms (GTEP)/ CIO stakeholders, the Scotiabank internal cloud team, under GTEP-Operations & Engineering, will build hybrid cloud products including detailed design, build, operational transition and product lifecycle management across the enterprise. Cloud products follow infrastructure patterns, frameworks and standards from GTEP-EA Architecture. Enabling enterprise wide adoption of innovative hybrid cloud products (like automated Infra/backup/storage services, software defined Data Center etc.)

• Reporting to the Director/Principal Engineer, Cloud Engineering, you will play a lead role to lead the backup services team to deploy, operate, troubleshoot, support backup/restoration and migration activities in scope of Scotiabank On-prem Private Cloud, GCVE in public cloud and GCE.
• Design and develop a backup testing as a service practice within the private cloud to enable the stakeholders to test the applications end to end recovery capabilities using Cohesity data protection services.
• You will work with technical and business subject matter experts on this large, technically complex, and moderately risky project to ensure the migrated applications are functional well to meet their business goals.
• When required, non-standard office working hours for scheduled change implementations or issue troubleshooting.
• You will lead the backup service team to manage and maintain the backup and NAS solution (both on-prem and GCP), assist in troubleshooting, and provide guidance.
• You will provide Level 3 support & vendor escalations for transitioned services.
• You will support the development of technical documentation of configuration and operational procedures for service operations teams (build & runbooks) & technical specifications.
• You will contribute to implementation planning.

• 10+ years of overall working experience as a Backup Administrator, technical working experience with backup from the following products:
  Cohesity and/or Dell EMC Data Domain (backup and replication) and/or Net Backup and/or Veeam, etc.
• 3+ years of leading an engineering team delivering backup services.
• 2+ years of hands‑on technical working experience with backup solution running in Public Cloud, like Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• 2+ years of hands‑on technical working experience with the architectural and/or deployment and/or operational support of VMware vSphere Hypervisor, Red Hat Open Shift Virtualization.
• 2+ years of hands‑on technical working experience with Microsoft Windows Server 2019/2022 administration and/or Red Hat Linux administration 9.x/10.x.
• 5+ years of hands‑on technical working experience with Networking technologies and operational experience.
• Experience with Scripting (Backup automation, REST API scripting, Power Shell & Python).
• Experience with storage from the following products:
  Net App NAS and/or Dell EMC and/or Hyper Converged Virtual SAN.
• Previous Banking/FI experience.
• Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills to be able to work well with technical peers and business stakeholders at different levels within the organization.
