GFT is seeking a Roadway Designer to join our Transportation Group. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Toronto, Ontario office. Working on the roadway team at GFT offers the opportunity to engage in transformative projects that enhance transportation infrastructure and improve community connectivity. We are looking for a self-starter who will work with a highly functioning, entrepreneurial, autonomous team and be responsible for providing design & multidisciplinary coordination for a variety of projects and clients, including the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario (MTO), Metrolinx, and various municipalities in the Greater Toronto Area. In this role, you will have the opportunity to grow/enhance your transportation engineering design skills and take on significant responsibility for delivering exciting work.

- Work in a multi-disciplinary and collaborative team environment.
- Contribute to planning, preliminary design and detail design for interesting infrastructure projects.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings (plans, profiles, sections, and miscellaneous details) with limited to high complexity in support of broader engineering activities.
- Develop practical applications of engineering principles and ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations and standards.
- Produce plans, 3D models and 2D drawings using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, or Micro Station & InRoads.
- Gather and record information to be used for cost estimating.
- Prepare specifications.
- Conduct site inspections & investigations during design development process.
- Provide technical writing input to proposals, feasibility studies, design criteria and other reports.
- Interface with clients and attendance at meetings is required.
- Coordinate and manage civil engineering sub disciplines such as drainage, traffic, geotechnical, survey and others.
Experience:
What You Will Bring To Our Firm
- Minimum 1 year of applicable experience (including summer and co-op) in road, transportation, or transit design project experience.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or Certified Engineering Technician (CET) certification in Ontario.
- Experience with Bentley Micro Station/InRoads/Open Roads.
- Experience with AutoCAD & Civil 3D.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of current trends and technologies in transportation engineering.
- Methodical approach to problem solving.
- Initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.

The salary range for this position is $68,200.00 - $90,000.00. Salary dependent upon experience and geographic location.
