Extractive Metallurgy Engineer
Overview
We are seeking process engineers with 5 to 10 years of experience in mining or consulting to join our extractive metallurgy and mineral processing team in Toronto. In this role, you will contribute expertise across all phases of mining projects—from prefeasibility studies through commissioning—delivering high-quality consulting services to our clients.

Responsibilities- Provide expertise and high-quality consulting services for our clients
- Work as a member of skilled cross-discipline teams to ensure cost effective, safe and timely completion of mining projects, across all phases from prefeasibility studies to commissioning
- Contribute to and lead the development of process engineering deliverables, including PDCs, PFDs, P&IDs, technical specifications and evaluations; designing and configuring process parameters
- Contribute to the planning, coordination, and management of metallurgical testwork for process flowsheet development, engaging laboratory and client stakeholders
- Contribute to and lead the development of process heat and material balances using simulation software such as JKSimMet, Bruno for comminution, and METSIM or HSC Chemistry
- Participate in the selection, sizing and costing of process equipment for new technology implementation
- Provide support for the preparation of proposals, studies and technical evaluation reports
- Liaise with clients on a technical level and present reports, publications and presentations in a professional manner
- Ensure that all team members adhere to BBA’s 10 Golden Rules for health & safety and that this function is embedded within all the work that they do

- Undergraduate degree in mineral processing or metallurgy, or in chemical engineering (with courses taken or projects done in mineral processing or extractive metallurgy)
- 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in operations or consulting
- Member of the PEO or possibility to become a member of a professional association for engineers
- Experience in gold, copper, green energy materials (lithium, graphite, etc.) or base metal operations and/or design
- General areas of expertise include metallurgical test work planning/analysis, crushing, grinding, flotation, water treatment, gravity separation, pressure oxidation, heap leaching, CIL/CIP and electrowinning/refining
- Experience with Microsoft Office and process simulation software (e.g. METSIM, JKSimMet, Bruno, SysCAD, OLI)
- Available for occasional international and domestic travel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and solid presentation skills
- Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written (a second language of French/Spanish is an asset)
- Annual base salary $87,000 - $150,500
