As part of HDR’s Transportation Business Group, you’ll help shape the systems that move people and goods safely, efficiently, and sustainably. From designing resilient highways and iconic bridges to advancing transit, passenger and freight rail, aviation, federal transportation ports and marine infrastructure, your work will directly support economic vitality, public safety, sustainable and resilient communities and quality of life.
We bring together planners, engineers, architects, construction management staff, environmental, strategic communications, economists, management consultants and specialists across disciplines to solve complex mobility challenges with innovation, technical excellence, and a deep understanding of community needs. In the role of Transportation Planner, we'll count on you to:
- Provide transportation planning services for transit, highway, municipal and provincial agencies
- Provide support for corridor studies, forecast modelling, multi‑modal transportation analysis, transportation planning, and project issue tracking
- Assimilate, manage, and analyze data
- Collect project‑related data as needed, which may include research, interviews with government agencies and clients, map reviews, land use surveys, and socioeconomic analysis
- Code and test future alternative transportation scenarios and network concepts using travel demand modelling programs
- Prepare scenario mapping and networks for modelling
- Calibrate and validate regional and subarea demand models
- Prepare required documents such as process memoranda, corridor analyses, model validation, and other technical reports
- Assist in preparation for and participate in stakeholder meetings, public information meetings, and hearings
- Perform other duties as needed
- Master’s degree
- Experience with transportation planning concepts
- Python, EMME and/or VISUM, Adobe Creative Suite
- Bachelor's degree
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
