District Overview

McNally International is a privately owned heavy construction company that specializes in marine and tunnelling construction. McNally is recognized as Canada's leading Tunnel Contractor, with experience building tunnels with a wide range of tunneling methods, for end uses including utilities (water, sewer, steam, power transmission,) and transportation (subways, traffic pedestrian walkways). On the water, we boast one of the best-equipped construction fleets in Eastern Canada;

able to successfully handle a wide variety of marine construction jobs effectively and efficiently. Marine projects generally include docks, piers, wharfs, pipelines, dredging, shore protection, and environmental remediation.

Location

This position will be based in Hamilton, ON looking after projects based in Ontario.

The successful candidate will be local and willing to travel and go where the work is as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and direct project teams by providing communication, coordination, and follow-up to meet project goals and objectives; ensure project scope or work, schedule and budget are clearly defined and understood.
  • Establish project procedures consistent with contractual documents and quality plans for all engineering work; determine and oversee all project controls, schedules, and budgets.
  • Serve as project representative with client, constructor, subcontractors, and vendors at kick-off meetings, job walks, project review, and other meetings and correspondence.
  • Coordinate training and compliance measures to ensure project procedures are followed.
  • Identify and secure necessary approvals for all changes in project scope, budget and/or schedule.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with client, adjusting as necessary to comply with client needs within contractual obligations, or adjust project deliverables to meet client and McNally needs.
  • Ensure all work products are consistent with industry standards and in accordance with good engineering practice and applicable codes, and in compliance with all pertinent legal codes and requirements.
  • Provide ongoing training and mentoring to entry and mid-level engineers to promote employee development.
  • Utilize extensive knowledge of basic engineering fundamentals and practices to track and budget progress with project milestones.
  • Read, understand, and evaluate bid documents, specifications, and drawings to understand the project scope of work and develop a plan for the actual construction to serve as basis for the estimate.
  • Work with the estimate team on various problems discovered during bid preparation, design, rates, schedules, etc. and write formalized questions for submittal.
Qualifications
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Civil Engineering, OR extensive and related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities described above.
  • At least 5+ years’ related experience and/or training, specifically in the Marine industry
  • At least 5+ years’ experience with direct project oversight on Project controls, engineering and construction related projects
  • Competent in the use of computer software applications used for project control
  • Ability to travel and relocate as business requires.
  • Must be a team player and be able to work with various partners from start to finish.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint). #LI-GH
