Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Estimation Manager – Building Technologies to lead our estimating function in Ontario. This strategic role will oversee a team of estimators at varying levels of experience and will focus on complex pursuits within the Building Automation Systems (BAS), Electrical, Mechanical, and emerging technology scopes. The Estimation Manager will be responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and competitive bids while managing risk and aligning with company growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of junior to senior estimators, with all BAS estimators in Ontario reporting directly to this role.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and collaboration across the estimating team.
  • Act as a chief estimator for large‑scale and complex projects, providing high‑level oversight and strategic input during the pursuit stage.
  • Develop and implement best practices, tools, and processes to optimize estimating efficiency and accuracy.
  • Partner with business development and operations teams to evaluate new opportunities.
  • Present estimation outcomes and associated risks to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations to support bid/no‑bid decisions.
  • Provide expert‑level estimating for Building Automation Systems (BAS), with strong working knowledge in Electrical and Mechanical scopes.
  • Demonstrate interest and capability in managing estimates for Security Systems and Healthcare Technologies, including Real‑Time Location Systems (RTLS), nurse call systems, and other smart healthcare infrastructure.
  • Lead the analysis of drawings, specifications, and addenda to develop detailed and accurate estimates.
  • Collaborate with the proposal team to manage and coordinate bid submissions.
  • Ensure the completeness, competitiveness, and compliance of all bids with client requirements.
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of experience in estimating roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior estimating position.
  • Strong background in Building Automation Systems, with additional expertise in Electrical, Mechanical, and low‑voltage technology systems.
  • Proven interest and/or experience in estimating Security and Healthcare Technology projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high‑performing teams.
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience interacting with senior leadership.
  • Proficient in estimation software tools and MS Office Suite.
Preferred Attributes
  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) designation or Certified Estimating Professional (CEP) is an asset.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and risk management skills.
