This OpportunityThe Toronto office of Smith + Andersen is currently seeking
Mechanical Designers. You’re a trained engineer with a passion for mechanical building services design. You never shy away from a load calculation, and have the skills to produce drawings in Autodesk Revit. You enjoy taking on new challenges, but you’re most excited when you can buckle down and efficiently get work done. You’re not afraid to speak up and ask tough questions, and you pride yourself on your friendly yet direct
communication skills.

Incorporate calculations into technical drawings.Prepare calculations to size equipment and prepare equipment schedules that are project specific. Coordinate with necessary project consultants to review equipment.Liaise with all project consultants; coordinate design requirements with all disciplines and supervise drawings between other disciplines; check layouts of mechanical services for interferences with other components of the building such as structure, ceilings, etc.Design mechanical building systems directly in Revit/CAD; adhering to company BIM/CAD standards.Work with clash/coordination reports, assisting with model audits and overall health of the model.Liaise with suppliers and/or manufacturers for design support, equipment and component selection.Assist in construction administration by reviewing equipment shop drawings and conducting site visits, site reviews and preparing change notices, site instructions, etc.Any other tasks assigned by Principals…
