Job Description About

The Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated Intermediate Environmental Modeler to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree and a minimum of 3 years work experience or a Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years experience looking at fate and transport of chemicals and radionuclides in the environment. The successful candidate will support and be involved in model verification and validation activities.

It is expected that the successful candidate will work well in a team environment, supporting our in‑house programmer, project managers, team members, and other modeling specialists. The position will also require data analysis, statistical analysis, data summary and report preparation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop an in‑depth understanding of in‑house models in the area of hydrology, fate and transport modeling, and human and ecological risk assessment.
  • Set‑up, calibrate and validate models for various projects for mining, nuclear and other industry clients.
  • Participate in model quality assurance and verification activities.
  • Synthesize data and interpret model results.
  • Participate in report preparation.
  • Work with other innovative thinkers to continue to develop models in‑house.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree (M.Sc., M.A.Sc. or M. Eng.) with 3 years of work experience or graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science with 5 years of work experience.
  • Strong foundation in mathematics.
  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent organizational skills including attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi‑task in order to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to learn and take on challenging tasks.
