Job Title: Night Shift Facility/Maintenance Support Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical)

Mode of Job: 3 days and 4 days alternating days (12hr shift)

Locations: Toronto, ON

Overview

We are seeking an experienced CE Facility Support Engineer – Electrical to support mission‑critical electrical infrastructure within a high‑availability data center environment. This role focuses on electrical operations, preventative maintenance, monitoring, and controlled shutdown activities while ensuring strict adherence to safety, security, and operational procedures. The ideal candidate has hands‑on data center experience and thrives in a 24x7 critical environment.

Core Responsibilities Electrical
  • Escort and supervise third‑party contractors, vendors, and service providers on site
  • Perform routine rounds, inspections, and operational logging (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.)
  • Monitor electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems under supervision
  • Assist with emergency monitoring and response using established Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs)
  • Execute planned work activities in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Support energization of cabinets in colocation environments
  • Perform preventative maintenance on:
  • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems (quarterly & annual)
  • Batteries
  • Assist with troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and calibration of sensors and instrumentation
  • Support electrical infrastructure across single or multi‑facility data center campuses
  • Perform controlled electrical activities including:
  • PDU shutdowns for meter replacement
  • Power Interruption Testing (PIT)
  • Master controller shutdown or replacement
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, security, and physical access policies at all times
Mechanical

5+ years of hands‑on experience in technical or mechanical fields (e.g., data centers, automotive, electrical, controls, manufacturing)

Experience working with mechanical systems in high‑availability or critical environments (data centers, hospitals, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, manufacturing)

  • CRAH units (single unit PM)
  • AHUs and filter replacement
  • Fire alarm systems and fire pumps
  • Generators (quarterly and annual PM)
  • Eyewash stations and duress buttons
  • VESDA systems (alert/supervisory – low airflow)

Experience with:

  • Rooftop HVAC units (RTUs)

Ability to perform visual and non‑intrusive preventative maintenance

Basic monitoring and initial assessment of equipment performance

Ability to follow SOPs for critical environment planned work

Basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent

Ability to work flexible schedules, including:

  • 12‑hour shifts
  • Rotating shifts
Required Technical Skills
  • 5+ years of hands‑on experience in technical fields (electrical, controls, automotive, or critical environments)
  • Experience working with electrical systems in high‑availability or critical infrastructure environments (data centers, hospitals, oil & gas, pharmaceutical, manufacturing)
  • Fundamental understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Experience with Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS)
  • OSHA or OSHA‑approved NFPA 70E certification
  • Ability to safely perform equipment shutdowns and maintenance activities
Preferred / Nice to Have
  • Experience in multi‑site or hyperscale data center campuses
  • Exposure to commissioning, PIT testing, or infrastructure upgrades
  • Familiarity with redundancy concepts (N / N+1 environments)
Soft Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Ability to follow procedures precisely in high‑risk environments
  • Clear communication when working with vendors and internal teams
  • Dependable and comfortable working overnight shifts
Education & Other Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including:
  • 12‑hour shifts
  • Rotating schedules (3–5 day work weeks)
  • Night shifts
