DescriptionThe Assistant Electrical Engineer will assist project teams to create world‑class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across a variety of industries including power, process, corporate, healthcare, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities. The role involves working with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting electrical plans to meet budget constraints, design factors, and client needs.
Responsibilities- Assist in the electrical design of projects from the conceptual phase through design completion.
- Assist with modifying and reviewing production drawings for a wide range of facilities, including power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, governmental, and military sites.
- Assist in designing electrical components to meet project requirements set by project managers.
- Apply basic knowledge of commonly used electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures within the electrical engineering services industry.
- Assist with research and collection of project‑related data as required by the project managers.
- Assist with correcting and updating drawings provided by senior engineers to ensure corrections are implemented across multiple CAD‑related software.
- Assist with client presentations, shop drawing review, and contract administration for projects across various sectors.
- Assist in performing field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all company policies and standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related accredited program, or
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited program with successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
- Prior internship or related consulting experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of standard electrical engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem‑solving environment; demonstrated critical thinking skills.
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Working knowledge of electrical analysis programs (e.g., RISA), AutoCAD, BIM (e.g., Revit and Tekla).
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Engineers in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
Full‑time position, located in Toronto, Ontario. Travel is required up to 25 % of the time. The posting will remain open until filled.
