Position Summary:

Hatch is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineering Intern with interest in Technologies for a 16 month internship starting in Spring 2026. Reporting to the Lead Engineering Specialist you will support projects globally working from the Mississauga Head Office.

Responsibilities:

Directly apply and develop knowledge in civil and structural design

Perform structural finite element analysis on various furnace components using software such as Staad Pro and ANSYS

Perform calculations, including structural analyses, using software such as Excel, Mathcad, and Staad Pro

Co-ordinate designs with a multi-disciplinary team including structural, mechanical, electrical, process, and instrumentation and controls.

Contribute to the design and improvement of metallurgical furnace structures

Become familiar in reviewing fabrication and construction drawings; and

Improve their technical communication and report writing skills

Education and Experience:

Must be in third or fourth year Civil/Structural Engineering program at an accredited university

Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community

Have an aptitude for working on multi-disciplinary teams;
