Our Third Party and Agreements Team within the Capital Projects Group (CPG) is seeking to a Project Manager position for its Traffic and Transportation Subways and GO Expansion project teams. The Project Manager will provide subject matter expertise on traffic and transportation-related issues with third parties including local municipalities, to facilitate overall success for programs and projects. Project Manager will support with the third-party regulatory planning stage approvals on road closures, stakeholder engagement, and traffic-related permit approvals within municipal right-of-way for subway and GO projects.

The traffic and transportation Project Manager will assist manager and project team in developing and maintaining strong internal and external relationships with local and regional partners, government groups and/or communities during all stages of design and construction.

Given the collaborative and coordination-driven nature of this work, the role is office-based and requires consistent in-office and project office presence.

What will I be doing?
  • Assist Manager of Traffic and Transportation – Subways/GO Expansion, within the Third Party and Agreements team on the new Subway and GO projects within Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.
  • Review traffic impact studies and address transportation related issues and assess project agreements and specifications.
  • Assist project delivery and environmental assessment teams on traffic and transportation issues.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for resolution and escalation of traffic and transportation-related issues
  • Liaise with third party agencies (., local and regional municipalities, municipal transit agencies, and other relevant authorities (., governments and other stakeholders) on traffic/transportation issues and to facilitate necessary regulatory approvals and permits/approvals for individual projects.
  • Establish and maintain a matrix of third-party issues impacting the program or project.
  • Coordinate with third parties, including local municipalities, local road authorities having jurisdictions, and transit agencies to facilitate planning level road and transit closure approvals necessary during all stages of design and construction of subway and GO infrastructure projects.
  • Monitor traffic related permit applications, Traffic Management Plans and road closure requests from Project Co for subway/GO construction and coordinate the approvals with internal stakeholders, the municipal road authorities and other third parties.
  • What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
  • Completion of a degree in Engineering, applied science or Transportation Planning – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
  • Working experience in traffic and transportation and/or coordinating third party agreements and approvals required to support project and program delivery.
  • A professional designation such as , , or Registered Professional Planner is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of transportation planning, traffic modelling, traffic impact studies, and traffic operations analysis, preferably within the context of transit projects delivery.
  • Knowledge and experience of facilitating third-party traffic and transportation requirements from local municipal road authorities having jurisdictions and transit agencies for transit infrastructure projects,
  • Experience in obtaining municipal and provincial traffic-related permits and approvals, especially on traffic related permits for construction works within municipal right-of-way, necessary for the implementation of transit projects.
  • Experience with construction of transit projects, preparation and review of traffic management plans, traffic related permit applications and construction coordination with third parties, including local municipalities, is considered an asset.
  • Experience with projects applying Public/Private Partnership, Progressive Design-Build, Alliance procurement models is considered an asset.
