About the Project

The Steam Generator Replacement Team (SGRT) project is a fully integrated Joint Venture of Aecon and Framatome, located in Kincardine, Ontario. SGRT is part of the Major Component Replacement (MCR) project and includes the removal of the steam generators and installation of replacement steam generators with related plant modifications. This project is part of Bruce Power’s Life Extension Program to continue operation safely through to 2064.

SGRT has contracts for Unit 3, 4, 5, 7 and 8 for steam generator replacements as part of Bruce Major Component Replacement.

Under the general direction of the Boilermaker Superintendent, the Boilermaker General Foreperson will assist in the supervision, coordination, and scheduling of construction activities for their dedicated scope.

What You'll Do Here
  • Maintain excellent relationships with client, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and public.
  • Ensure all work is conducted safely in accordance with safety, quality, and human performance policies.
  • Use the project master schedule to create detailed look ahead schedules for forecasting and planning.
  • Assist in developing recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy.
  • Plan and approve the work of own forces and subcontractors, including methods of construction, manpower, materials, tools & equipment, rentals and work schedules.
  • Assume responsibility for the efficient use of materials and equipment and contractual performance of the project.
  • Ensure trades personnel complete necessary training in safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation and owner specified requirements.
  • Ensure the project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, Field Work Packages (FWPs), Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and project schedule and budget.
  • Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors as required.
  • Ensure the work is carried out in accordance with QA Programs and project quality guidelines.
  • Maintain appropriate field documentation including safety records, daily progress reports, training records, T&E and rental records, manpower reports, owner support requests, FWP documents, etc.
  • Participate in basic layout, preparation of work instructions, field engineering activities, etc.
  • Oversee and directly support work during execution phase, including monitoring performance, guiding the field team, reporting to line management, leading problem-solving efforts and developing adverse condition recovery plans.
  • Identify and support CITP and/or DCN revisions as necessary to support field work.
  • Manage and maintain OPEX in the project database for future use.
  • Attend and participate in Plan of the Day and other meetings as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Foreperson and execution crew in the execution of their assigned duties.
  • Coordinate across all functions of the project as required to achieve task goals.
  • Provide leadership to field supervisors, coordinators and respective craft labor.
What You Bring To The Team
  • Boilermaker Certification of Qualification or equivalent combination of technical training and/or related experience.
  • Minimum 5-10 years construction supervision experience.
  • Ability to successfully coordinate a construction project.
