Sr Field Service Technician; Ontario
Overview
We are currently seeking a Senior Field Service Technician to be part of our fast‑paced and quality‑focused team. The candidate for this position will need to be based out of Ontario, Canada.
Responsibilities- A Sr. Field Service Technician (Sr. FST) with Rapiscan has the primary responsibility of ensuring the users of Rapiscan’s equipment are satisfied with its performance.
- Senior field level position requiring enhanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, ability to think independently and operate with minimal instruction.
- Assist FSE I, FSE II & Senior FSE’s with troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, and make recommendations to management regarding system performance, enhancements and general health and safety.
- Provide additional reporting of system status, including Uptime Availability, Mean Time to Repair, and review logistics plans for forward‑stocked parts to meet Service Level Agreement requirements.
- 70‑80% of the time spent providing field repair and maintenance; 20‑30% supporting other FSEs, working with clients, and supporting sales and marketing activities.
- Resolve complex client issues through technical expertise and superior client handling skills. Tasks include emergency service, contract service, new product support, maintenance, customer training, and sales support.
- Train and assist other FSE I’s, FSE II’s & SFSE’s, and provide corrective action recommendations to technical support, manufacturing and engineering.
- Perform maintenance, repair, installation and diagnosis of mobile x‑ray units to component level at customer sites.
- Provide problem resolution, troubleshooting and installation; act as liaison between customer and company; provide customer training and complete paperwork such as service reports, radiation surveys, parts requisitions and expense reports.

- Report quality problems or defects to manager or senior management to implement corrective action and avoid recurrence.
- Associate’s degree or above in Electronics or another technical related field highly desired.
- High School Diploma required.
- 6+ years of experience in related field preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints and schematics; solid customer service skills needed.
- Ability to communicate clearly (written and spoken) in English and French (mandatory).
- Knowledge of X‑ray imaging security systems a plus.
- Physical: ability to lift/push up to 50 lbs frequently; 50+ lbs with assistance occasionally.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions provided in written, oral or diagram form.
- Work environment includes moving mechanical parts and low levels of radiation below permissible limits.
