Overview

The Dalla Lana School of Public Health invites applications for a full-time tenure stream position in Black health within the Division of Social and Behavioural Health Sciences. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026. This search aligns with the University’s commitment to strategically and proactively promote diversity among our community members (Statement on Equity, Diversity & Excellence).

Qualifications
  • Earned a PhD or equivalent doctorate in a social or health science by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter.
  • Demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching, including publications in top-ranked and field-relevant journals, forthcoming publications, presentations at significant conferences, awards, and strong endorsements from referees.
  • Scholarship encompassing Black health studies, critical race theory, African/Black feminist theorisation, anti-colonial (decolonial) studies, intersectional health experience, and related research areas.
  • Evidence of commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.
Responsibilities
  • Pursue innovative and independent research, establish an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research programme.
  • Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, contributing to the Division of Social and Behavioural Sciences.
  • Engage in service activities that complement the Academic Plan of the Dalla Lana School of Public Health.
