Course Description:

This course will examine the role of business in society including stakeholder rights and responsibilities, current important environmental and social issues (e.g., climate change, ethical supply chains, etc.) and management practices for sustainable development. It is designed for students who are interested in learning how to integrate their business skills with a desire to better society.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:

Graduate degree in business or management or undergraduate degree in business or management with a professional designation (CA or CFA). Several years related professional experience in the CSR field. Previous experience teaching a related course at the university level.

Preferred qualifications:

In addition to minimum, Ph.D. degree; previous experience in teaching a similar course at undergraduate (university) level.

Duties:

All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content, development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams, calculation and submission of grades, holding regular office hours, and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact, supervision of T.A. assigned to the course.

Estimated TA Support (Hours):

Approximately 50 minutes per student enrolled over 30

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.

In considering qualified applicants, teaching excellence, currency in and mastery of subject area; previous experience in teaching a similar course at undergraduate (university) level or similar environment; several years related professional experience shall be the criteria used in the selection of the most qualified candidate in accordance with Article 14:12.

Salary for a half-course (0.50 FCEs) inclusive of vacation pay:
The Sessional Lecturer I rate of pay will be $9,820.70. Sessional Lecturer I-Long Term rate of pay will be $10,510.04. Sessional Lecturer II rate of pay will be $10,510.04. Sessional Lecturer II-Long Term rate of pay will be $10,760.28. Sessional Lecturer III rate of pay will be $10,760.28. Sessional Lecturer III-Long Term rate of pay will be $11,030.36.
