Appointment Details

The base salary range for Contract Lectures hired August 16, 2025 through August 15, 2026 is $77,701.53 to $99,371.53 per annum. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Contract amounts are calculated based on the number of semester hours in the appointment.

Hydraulic applications in conduit flows: flow classification, shear stress and velocity distribution, pipe friction formula, energy equations, pump/pipeline systems. Open channel flow: application of the energy, momentum and continuity equations, channel bed friction, steady and uniform flow, specific energy, hydraulic jump, gradually varied flow, natural channel designs. Hydraulic structures and analysis of looped pipe systems. Appropriate experimental laboratory work related to the area of hydraulic engineering

a) A full workload half-sessional appointment is for 15 hours in any one semester.
b) A reduced workload half-sessional appointment is for at least 9 but less than 15 semester hours in any one semester.
c) A part-time hourly appointment / one semester is for less than 9 hours in any one semester.

Qualifications

Evidence may be requested for all categories.

Education

PhD in the related discipline;

Outstanding performance in an equivalent course at the graduate or senior undergraduate level;

Evidence of having maintained up-to-date knowledge and/or academic currency in specific field/discipline;

Minimum of three years professional experience;

Demonstrated teaching skills with minimum three years’ post-secondary teaching/GA experience;

Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with students;

Teaching Experience
Teaching target or similar course at TMU graduate program.
Teaching target or similar course at other university graduate programs.
Teaching target or similar course at TMU undergraduate program or another university undergraduate program.
Teaching target course at College.

Practice field experience
Current (past 3 years) practice in related fields 6-10 (depends on quality of experience, including relevance to course, level of responsibility, relevant professional accreditation, etc.)
Past (more than
3) years ago) practice in a related field.

Currency
Academic publications (refereed) in the past 5 years.
Academic publications more than 5 years ago or current (less than 5 years) professional profile (including professional or academic presentations).
Other demonstrated professional currency (practitioner writing, courses taken).
