About The Alumni Engagement Officer Role

The Alumni Engagement Officer is a pivotal member of the Advancement and Alumni team, dedicated to strengthening the relationship between the institution and its alumni community. Reporting to the Manager of Alumni Engagement, this role designs, implements, and evaluates key alumni engagement programs, including Humber Alumni Connect, Alumni Marketplace, Alumni Stories, Contests, and Convocation events.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, execute, and evaluate in-person, virtual, and hybrid programs.
  • Develop and implement engagement initiatives such as New Grad Engagement Campaigns.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to build awareness of alumni programs.
  • Maintain contact with faculties and stakeholders to plan alumni activities.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including catering, entertainment, venue setup, collateral, signage, and equipment procurement.
  • Create event collateral, manage registrations, and provide on‑site support.
  • Conduct post‑event debriefs to assess success and identify improvements.
  • Research and engage with new, current, and past alumni.
  • Recruit alumni ambassadors, guest speakers, volunteers, and mentors.
  • Oversee alumni email account and correspondence, guiding stakeholders on requests.
  • Integrate new engagement strategies, such as virtual and hybrid events.
  • Stay updated on alumni behavior, demographic trends, and new engagement techniques.
Social Media & Digital Content
  • Generate ideas, write, and produce professional‑quality social media content across multiple platforms.
  • Leverage public‑facing channels for organic and paid marketing.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to develop creative assets.
  • Write briefs, draft messaging, film, and edit videos for Instagram Reels and You Tube Shorts.
  • Partner with faculties to promote key initiatives.
  • Research, fact‑check, and edit content for accuracy.
  • Manage a social media calendar to schedule and publish content.
  • Implement analytics and accessibility features.
  • Monitor and engage with audiences, managing comments and crises.
  • Build and run social media advertising campaigns.
  • Stay informed on the latest trends and innovations.
Data Management & Insights
  • Collaborate with the Advancement Services team to import alumni data into Raiser's Edge.
  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of alumni records in the database.
  • Validate eligibility for affinity partner programs.
  • Review and respond to distribution list requests.
  • Lead membership review for the Humber Alumni Connect app.
  • Provide regular performance reports on alumni initiatives and campaigns.
  • Analyze social media performance and refine strategies.
  • Monitor alumni engagement for lead generation and recognition.
Qualifications Education

Three‑year diploma or degree in Media Communications, Media Foundations, Mass Communications, Professional Writing, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations, or Graphic Design.

Experience | Skills
  • Proven ability to develop strong relationships and partnerships.
  • Experience building and executing Alumni and Advancement initiatives, including Raiser’s Edge.
  • Experience in building and engaging social media communities.
  • Experience producing social media assets, including photos and short‑form video content.
  • Advanced knowledge of social media platforms and ad managers.
  • Proficiency with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite and mobile video editing tools.
  • Knowledge of the post‑secondary sector is an asset.
