POSITION SUMMARY :

The Manager, Emmanuel College Professional Advancement and Continuing Training Centre (The EMPACT Centre Manager), will develop, manage, and promote non-degree and professional continuing education programs for adult learners within Emmanuel College. They will identify areas for general learning and skills development in the professions of Ministry and Lay Leadership, and oversee professional education in spiritual care and spiritually-integrated psychotherapy. They will identify professional development and educational training needs to design courses and programs that help individuals advance their careers or pursue personal enrichment.

This role focuses on lifelong learning, providing flexible and accessible educational opportunities outside of traditional degree paths.

The EMPACT Centre Manager will oversee a portfolio of short courses, workshops, certificates, and seminars based on stakeholder needs and feedback. The EMPACT Centre Manager will be responsible to balance educational quality with financial sustainability, seeking to build capacity so that the programs are both valuable and fiscally responsible for the institution. The EMPACT Centre Manager reports to the Principal of Emmanuel College.

The following activities focus on launching, operating, and stabilizing a pilot portfolio of continuing education programs during the grant-funded period.

PROGRAM DEVELOPEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION

  • Develop and implement new EMPACT Centre courses based on market research, stakeholder consultations, and community needs assessments, with an initial focus on pilot offerings.
  • Oversee the administration of EMPACT Centre programs, including course scheduling, instructor coordination, student registration processes, and day-to-day program logistics.
  • Monitor developments in adult and continuing education (including delivery modes and educational technologies) and apply relevant practices to EMPACT Centre programming as appropriate.
  • Work with Advisory committees and faculty to identify potential instructors.
  • Ensure all program offerings comply with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional policies.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through student feedback, completion rates, and learning outcomes to drive continuous improvement and growth of offerings.
  • Oversee the promotion of EMPACT Centre courses in collaboration with Emmanuel College staff, the Communications department.
  • Work closely with other institutions and leaders with similar goals and mandates, including Victoria University, other TST Colleges and the United Church of Canada.
  • Cultivate partnerships with the United Church of Canada, professional organizations, and community groups to identify collaboration opportunities and expand program reach.
  • Create and maintain the EMPACT Centre resource library
  • In collaboration with the Office of the Principal and Victoria University IT Services and Transformation, facilitate the addition of technology upgrades in 1-2 classrooms to support hybrid programming.
