Job Description
Pregnancy and Infant Loss (PAIL) Network is seeking an addition to their Education Team. A vacancy currently exists for a Family Educator. Reporting to the PAIL Network Manager, the Family Educator is a person with a lived experience of pregnancy or infant loss who is responsible for the delivery of educational content across Ontario in collaboration with the broader Education Team.
Teaching in a dyad (Family Educator and Health Professions Educator), the Family Educator contributes to the fulfillment of PAIL Network’s provincial mandate to provide education about pregnancy and infant loss to care providers and professionals in Ontario. This is a casual role requiring approximately 1-2 days of work/month. The ability to travel across Ontario is required.
Summary Of Duties
Teach approximately 10-12 full-day workshops per year using a co-facilitation model
Travel to education sites (as required) or deliver content remotely
Ability to work a full day (8 hour workshop) and travel outside the workshop times as required
Remain up-to-date on educational curriculum
Contribute to a positive and productive education program that is culturally sensitive to the diverse needs of communities in Ontario
Attend occasional team meetings and trainings, as required (remote and on-site at Sunnybrook’s Bayview Campus)
Qualifications/Skills
Successful candidates must have a lived experience of pregnancy and infant loss
Evidence of consistent ongoing continuing education and professional development
Previous teaching and facilitation experience preferred
Knowledge of adult learning/teaching styles
Ability to contribute to a positive culture of ongoing curriculum improvement
Self-motivated and committed to personal professional development
Promotes an anti-racist, anti-oppressive, diverse, and inclusive work and team environment, consistent with Sunnybrook’s Anti-Racism Policy and Equity and Social Accountability strategy
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to foster a supportive and collaborative environment with colleagues
Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to travel (within Ontario)

Builds trust with key stakeholders and peers through honesty, integrity, professionalism, and accountability
Proficiency with presentation technology (computer, Zoom, presentations, AV equipment)
Flexibility and adaptable to changing environments and the needs of workshop hosts/participants
