390) Sprinkler Design Systems Winter Semester 2026

We welcome applications for part‑time teaching opportunities. Course assignments are based on scheduling and instructional needs. Contract faculty typically teach up to 6 hours per week. While some courses may be offered online or in a hybrid format, availability for on‑campus teaching is often preferred.
This course is being taught incorporating a Flex model and will be taught online and onsite on campus.
Option 1: Monday 9:50am-11:35am & Friday 1:30pm-3:15pm
Option 2: Tuesday 9:50am-11:35am & Wednesday 2:24pm-4:10pm

Responsible for providing academic leadership in the classroom and ensuring an effective and compelling learning environment for students. You will…
- Ensure student awareness of course objectives, approach and evaluation techniques.
- Carry out regularly scheduled instruction, which may include tutoring and academic counselling of students.
- Provide a learning environment that makes effective use of available resources, work experience and field trips.
- Evaluate student progress/achievement and assuming responsibility for the overall assessment of the student's work within assigned courses.
- College Diploma in Fire Protection Engineering Technology or an equivalent credential in a related discipline.
- Experience in the subjects taught is an asset.
- In‑depth knowledge of NFPA Standards, specifically NFPA 13 for sprinkler systems.
- Proficiency in Hydraulic Calculations (water flow, pressure, and pipe sizing).
- Competence in CAD software, including Hydra
CAD and AutoCAD, for layout and design. - Understanding of Building Codes and local fire protection regulations.
- Ability to perform System Layout and Design (sprinkler head placement, zoning).
- Basic knowledge of Plumbing and Mechanical Systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to a team approach for problem‑solving and conflict resolution.
- Strong relationships with industry contacts and network connections are an asset.
