Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream - Landscape Architecture, Architecture and Urbanism
Overview
The John H. Daniels Faculty of Landscape, Architecture and Design at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full‑time Teaching Stream position in landscape architecture, architecture, and urbanism. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026.
Responsibilities- Teach master’s level landscape architecture and architecture programs, and undergraduate BA programs at the Daniels.
- Develop and deliver lecture material, course curricula, and assessment methods across the disciplines of landscape architecture, architecture, and urban design.
- Engage students in speculative and creative forms of landscape and architectural design, employing innovative design and representation methods.
- Participate in curriculum development and program assessment, contributing to the faculty’s interdisciplinary research agenda.
- Maintain a strong record of research, creative scholarship, and professional practice that informs teaching and enriches student learning.
- Professional Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture or a related area earned by the time of appointment.
- Minimum of five years of teaching experience in a master’s level professional degree‑granting program in landscape architecture.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, evidenced by a teaching statement, sample course materials, and evaluations or other documentation of superior teaching performance.
- A record of professional achievement in landscape architecture, particularly in its relationship with architecture and the city.
- Commitment to pedagogical inquiry and teaching‑related scholarly activities.
- Strong interest in teaching across the intersection of landscape architecture, architecture, and urban design.
The salary range is $115,000 – $160,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond this range may be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
