Your opportunity:


The Office of the Faculty Registrar (OFR) works closely with departments and colleges at the University of Toronto, concerning virtually all matters relating to Arts and Science students. Our department members are dedicated to aid all students to the greatest extent, to make their university experience as smooth and seamless as possible. We coordinate registration and enrolment, student records, student success programming, recruitment and admission, prospective student advising, transfer credit, petitions, final examinations, and graduation.

Under the general direction of the Associate Faculty Registrar & Director, Student Affairs, the Associate Director, Student Success Programs provides strategic direction and leadership to a team responsible for the development, delivery, and assessment of programs and initiatives that enhance the undergraduate academic experience. Core responsibilities include annual operational planning, researching and recommending program enhancements, preparing operational program budgets and reports, and coordinating the hiring and training of staff.

A key responsibility for this role will be to lead the development of program learning outcomes and assessment plans that evaluate student learning and support a data-driven approach to program planning and delivery.

Working closely with the Director, the Associate Director, will support defining strategic priorities and work plans, leveraging strategic enrollment management principles and intersectional frameworks to design and deliver programs and initiatives that are inclusive, accessible, and culturally responsive.

The Associate Director will also collaborate with partners at the OFR, the A&S Dean’s Offices, colleges, academic units, and other U of T divisions to coordinate, assist with, and advance student success projects and initiatives in alignment with OFR and A&S strategic priorities. The incumbent will thrive in a complex, dynamic environment that requires a high degree of interpersonal skills and a willingness to work cooperatively.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing day-to-day operational needs and service delivery requirements of programs
  • Analyzing and recommending enhancements to student success programs
  • Assessing and determining benchmarks and metrics for student success programming activities
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Producing complex statistical and/or financial reports
  • Planning and implementing components of registrarial projects
  • Directing the activities of a group of staff-appointed employees all performing a similar function
  • Training and coaching student life staff and student leaders


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five years of recent and related experience in designing, delivering, and assessing student success programs for undergraduate students, preferably at the University of Toronto.
  • Of these five years, minimum three years of experience supervising staff including previous responsibilities for mentoring, coaching, resolving issues, applying and implementing processes, and training staff, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in advanced program planning and evaluation including designing curriculum and learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and utilize student development theory and strategic enrollment management practices to inform student-centered initiatives.
  • Experience working on collaborative initiatives and events with multiple partners.
  • Experience utilizing effective data visualization techniques in reports and presentations.
  • Proven track record of working on equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, either in higher education or another relevant sector.
  • Demonstrated exceptional relationship-building to effectively facilitate partnerships with constituents from a variety of institutional areas.
