We are currently seeking a Regular Full-Time Manager, Camp, Courses and Studio Programming to join our Education & Programming team. Working with the Richard & Elizabeth Currie Chief, Education & Programming, the Manager actively guides the AGO’s Courses, Camps & Studio Programming to develop, implement, and assess programming that responds to the needs and interests of our diverse audiences. The role involves identifying significant trends in global contemporary visual arts learning and programming, supporting campers and students in our care, and collaborating with colleagues—both internally and externally—to create and realize all programs in alignment with AGO values.

Rate of pay: $89,180 – $111,456 per annum.

What is this position responsible for? Program Strategy and Development
  • Guide a collaborative Courses, Camps, and Studio Programming team in developing and delivering studio‑based courses for all ages, camps, and institution‑wide studio programming, including corporate, community, and internal workshops that enhance engagement and learning through the AGO’s exhibitions and collections.
  • Contribute to the development of the AGO as a site of dynamic global contemporary programs; build and initiate positive relationships with museum colleagues and the larger cultural community locally, nationally, and internationally.
  • Position the AGO as a leader in Course, Camp, and Studio Programming both broadly and within the museum field.
  • Collaborate with the Development Division to enhance fundraising opportunities and donor appreciation.
  • Collaborate with Brand and Business Development to strategically place our programs in the market to meet our audience and revenue goals.
Staff Management, Operations, and Visitor Experience
  • Manage and support the logistical planning and onsite coordination of all courses, camps, and studio programs.
  • Determine and monitor adherence to professional programming practices, ensuring programs deliver stated institutional goals and visitor outcomes.
  • Manage the work performance of related Courses and Camps staff with support from the Richard & Elizabeth Currie Chief, Education & Programming, including hiring, training, assigning, scheduling, monitoring work completion, and managing performance.
  • Provide best‑practice training, mentorship, and management of Program Assistants, Program Coordinators, Adult Art Instructors, Children and Youth Art Instructors, seasonal Summer Camp staff, and volunteers to ensure successful programs that align with AODA and Health & Safety standards as well as departmental goals and the AGO Mission and Vision.
  • Advise and support staff and instructors on best practices related to the care, supervision, and safeguarding of children and youth under 17, as well as campers and students of all ages with developmental or physical disabilities, ensuring alignment with custody‑of‑care standards, AODA requirements, health and safety protocols, and AGO policies.
  • Oversee, develop, shape, and implement critical schedules for AGO course, camp, and studio programs, ensuring all deliverables are met through liaison with visitor services, facilities, security, communications, design, development, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage delivery of services in accordance with department systems and procedures, apply collective agreements, and AGO’s policies on security, administration, human resources, and workplace health and safety.
