Who We AreTVO is an agency of the Ontario Ministry of Education, offering multi‑platform educational programming through TVO Kids, TVO Today, TVO ILC, and TVO Learn. We produce a broad range of content, including original documentaries, in‑depth public affairs, the largest online secondary school in Ontario, and award‑winning digital‑learning resources.
The OpportunityWe are looking to grow our Academic Officer team to provide academic support for student inquiries related to online course content and completion. Ideal candidates will be Ontario Certified Teachers (OCT) with expertise in English, Social Sciences, Business and/or Accounting.
How You Will Make An Impact- Assist students with academic queries and course content clarifications in a timely manner.
- Liaise with Academic Manager and Guidance Counsellors to optimize student support and success.
- Support the Administrative Unit on academic content issues of ILC courses and course selection.
- Assess and evaluate ILC cohort student submissions in your subject area following Growing Success guidelines.
- Stay current on Ministry of Education updates and initiatives.
- Adhere to Standards of Practice and Ethical Standards for the Teaching Profession.
- Liaise with ILC Teacher Markers in specific subject areas.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Must be an OCT‑certified teacher in good standing with intermediate/senior qualifications in English, Social Sciences, Business and/or Accounting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum, policies, guidelines, and legal/ethical issues related to teaching.
- Comfortable working with technology (Learning Management Systems such as Brightspace, Student Records Systems, MS Teams, Office, Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Solutions‑driven individual with excellent judgement and problem‑solving abilities.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills with sensitivity toward a diverse learner group.
- Excellent people skills and proven teamwork.
- Knowledge of secondary school policies, course selection, sequencing, and distance‑learning pathways.
- Experience developing and providing accommodations for all students, including special education, documentation, and AODA legislation.
- Highly developed written and spoken English communication skills.
- French communication skills are an asset.
