The Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery at Women’s College Hospital is inviting applications for the position of an Academic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with specialization in transition-related chest (top) surgery and postmastectomy breast reconstruction. The effective date of this appointment is April 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will be a key member of two inter-disciplinary Women’s College Hospital surgical programs, supporting both the enhanced Transition-Related Surgery (TRS) integrated, team-based program in the management of patients having gender affirming surgery of the chest wall, and the Breast Cancer Program focusing on breast reconstruction after mastectomy. The successful candidate will be based at Women’s College Hospital and will be a full member of the Division of Plastic Surgery in the Departments of Surgery at Women’s College Hospital and the University of Toronto.

The successful candidate will be a member of the Women’s College Hospital Department of Surgery practice plan. The successful recruit will have an elective plastic surgery practice based at Women’s College Hospital and will have a cross-appointment at the University Health Network. Operating Room time, clinic time, and office space will be provided at Women’s College Hospital. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required.

Responsibilities and Expectations

The successful candidate should possess strong leadership and organizational skills, should have a Master’s or PhD degree in research, education or management, and should have clinical fellowship training in plastic and reconstructive surgery. The candidate will establish a scholarly program related to their clinical areas of focus. The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor/Associate/Full Professor at the University of Toronto, for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

The candidate should be eligible for appointment at the Women’s College Hospital Research Institute.

The TRS program is a multidisciplinary team consisting of plastic surgery, urology, physiotherapy, social work and nursing. The successful candidate will improve access to TRS at WCH and would also provide leadership in increasing surgical capacity across the province. As the first public hospital in Canada to implement a TRS program, WCH is providing innovation, leadership and supporting structural change in gender affirming health care across the country.

Salary

The estimated salary will be in the range of $250,000-$500,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience, and dependent on fee-for-service clinical billing.
