Job SummaryA Blow Mold Designer at our Tooling Facility is to design and develop large scale blow mold and trim dies and related components which are efficient, functional and within specified parameters. To assist in the continued advancement and automation of our custom designed tooling.
Job Responsibilities- Work independently and within work groups to design, develop, and coordinate the manufacturing of blow molds & trim dies
- Design detailed, accurate CAD machining files and drawings to our tool shops and customers
- Back-up, manipulate and maintain files in WTTC networks
- Complete projects within the assigned time frame with adherence to budgeted hours
- Ensure proper materials and components are being used
- Ensure you inform your Team Leader of any Quality concerns
- Ensure design standards are followed, and checklists are utilized
- Ensuring your supervisor and appropriate peers are continually and fully informed of all job related matters
- Seeking out necessary information required to accomplish job responsibilities
- Obtain all information as required to complete work in a timely and effective manner
- Identify and elevate quality issues to your Team Leader and Supervisor
- Expand proficiency in Siemens NX by learning advanced modeling, drafting, and simulation capabilities to support more complex design and engineering tasks.
- Pursue continuous improvement through ongoing training and self-development in next-level NX functionalities to increase design efficiency and accuracy.
- Cross-train within the Injection Mold team to build a broader understanding of tooling processes, mold design principles, and manufacturing workflows.
- Five (5) years of experience in blow/injection mold tool designing and surfacing
- 3-D surfacing and/or blow mold tooling design experience, as well as experience developing detailed drawings and mechanical schematics
- Knowledge of WHMIS and Employment Standards
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Strong ability to work Siemens NX software (7.5 or higher preferred)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
