Position Overview
At Autodesk, we are reimagining the future of  design and making . We are seeking a  Principal User Experience Designer  who blends world‑class UX craft with deep experience in  AI‑augmented and computational design workflows . Join us as we create the next generation of  AI‑driven design tools  for product designers, engineers, and manufacturers around the world.
You will define how ideas become real – shaping tools used to design everything from consumer products to large‑scale physical systems. This role is ideal for a designer who thrives at the intersection of  design tools ,  end‑to‑end product creation , high aesthetic  design , and  manufacturing‑ready designs . You see AI not as a shortcut, but as a creative medium.

Responsibilities

Lead UX strategy and definition for next‑generation, AI‑powered product design workflows across Autodesk Fusion

Invent and prototype new creation models that blend computational design, simulation, and generative techniques with intuitive UX patterns

Architect end‑to‑end workflow solutions that translate customer requirements into tool chains used by product managers, designers, engineers, and manufacturing teams

Collaborate with product, engineering, research, data science, and design partners to deliver experiences that accelerate creativity while supporting manufacturability and real‑world constraints

Contribute to a unified Autodesk design system capable of expressing complex, multi‑modal design tasks (AI, logical systems, 2D/3D, simulation, collaboration, versioning)

Lead by doing – inspire teams with prototypes, narrative, and systems thinking that raise the bar for how computational design workflows can feel—fast, fluid, and human‑centered

Set and manage user experience objectives that align collaborators and sponsors to rally around breakthroughs that have customer‑appreciated benefits and positive business impact

Engage cross‑functionally with an aspiration to disrupt traditional approaches

Minimum Qualifications

10+ years in UX, industrial design, and computational design with a proven track record of building creation tools, advanced workflows, or modeling environments

Deep understanding of AI‑assisted design, parametric modeling, generative design, computational geometry, and design‑for‑manufacturing requirements

Experience with shipping tools or workflows used for product design, industrial design, or mechanical engineering

Demonstrated ability to design end‑to‑end workflows, from gathering requirements through prototyping to production‑ready user experiences

Extensive work with UI and interaction designers in translating end‑to‑end workflows into solutions delivered to market

Strong collaboration with engineering teams building complex, technical systems

Portfolio showing tool design excellence, clarity in complex problem spaces, and impact on real‑world product creation

Ideal Candidate

You are a designer‑inventor who moves fluidly between concept, tooling, and execution – crafting intelligent workflows that accelerate, augment, and automate how people design and make. You thrive in ambiguity, build clarity, and elevate the craft of product creation through thoughtful, customer‑appreciated workflows, engaging interactions, and impactful business results for our customers and Autodesk.
