Description

About us

The Rotman School of Management is part of the University of Toronto, a global centre of research and academic excellence at the heart of Canada’s commercial and financial capital. Rotman is a catalyst for transformative learning, insights and public engagement, bringing together diverse views and initiatives around a defining purpose: to create value for business and society. We make a fundamental promise – Here’s where it changes – to our students, our partners and the broader community.

Everyone at Rotman, faculty and staff, plays a role in bringing that promise to life.

Your opportunity

Are you a collaborative and experienced social media professional with a passion for digital storytelling and strategy? As Senior Social Media Strategist, you’ll create digital content and experiences that shape how Rotman connects with its diverse audience across our social channels (Linked In, Instagram, Facebook, X, Bluesky and You Tube).

Reporting to the Director, Strategic Communications, the Senior Social Media Strategist will bring deep expertise in social media content creation and strategy, and offer dedicated support to internal stakeholders to improve outcomes on all of the Rotman School’s central social media channels.

At Rotman, marketers and communicators across many areas create content and post to our channels, which are key to recruiting students to our varied graduate degree programs, engaging alumni and donors, attracting the business community to our public events and executive programs, and sharing faculty insights from Rotman Management magazine and the Rotman Insights Hub.

This role will consult widely and develop a social media strategy to capitalize on Rotman’s competitive advantages, rich content and diverse content creators. This role will also work closely with other social media experts across University of Toronto to generate ideas, share expertise and collectively brand-build. In addition to setting strategy and advising content creators across the School, this role will personally develop high-impact social content — including filming and editing video — to drive engagement on priority channels.

To help Rotman innovate, the Senior Social Media Strategist will work with content creators across the School to recommend new content approaches, experiment with emerging formats and platforms and develop original campaigns tied to strategic priorities. The role will improve posting processes (formats, frequency, timing, tagging), strengthen monitoring and response protocols and manage an integrated content calendar. They will advise and collaborate closely with contributors from across the School to refine content before publication, ensuring alignment with branding, accessibility and inclusivity standards while maintaining creative quality.

The successful candidate will oversee analytics and reporting, liaise with social media monitoring vendors and translate performance data into actionable recommendations that increase impact across channels.

Together with the Director, Strategic Communications, the Senior Social Media Strategist will host a regular social media Community of Practice, where they will advise content creators from other departments on best practices and platform use, review results, and where all content creators share ideas and successes.

To apply, please include a portfolio of social media content, including at least three social videos you have filmed and edited. Applications without a portfolio demonstrating hands‑on production experience will not be considered.

Responsibilities

Developing, creating and implementing social media strategies, content and campaigns that support broader School objectives.

Writing and editing digital communications, including snappy, short- and long‑form social media copy for static and video content.
