Role OverviewThe Social Media Manager is the daily voice of Brodie League online and the owner of our Instagram growth.
This role sits at the intersection of content creation, culture, and community. You are responsible for making Brodie unmissable on social media through daily content, trend fluency, and authentic engagement. Your instincts guide what we post, when we post it, and how we show up in basketball culture.
This is a hands‑on creator role. You shoot, edit, publish, and engage - turning moments into scroll‑stopping content and followers into athletes.
Your mission: build one of the most recognizable Instagram presences in recreational sports.
Core Responsibilities Instagram Content Creation & Management- Own Brodie League’s main Instagram account
- Create and publish 4–6 feed posts per week plus daily Stories
- Produce reels, carousels, and static posts optimized for platform performance
- Write captions in Brodie’s distinct voice rooted in basketball culture
- Shoot and edit content independently at games, events, and activations
- Develop recurring content series that become signature Brodie formats
- Drive follower growth and engagement across 22+ markets
- Engage meaningfully with followers through comments and DMs
- Collaborate with players, creators, and community accounts
- Monitor analytics and adapt content strategy based on performance
- Test new features and formats ahead of platform changes
- Set content guidelines for regional Instagram pages
- Provide templates, formats, and best practices to local managers
- Ensure brand consistency while allowing local flavor
- Share top-performing content across regions to maximize reach
- Train regional managers on social best practices
- Stay ahead of social, basketball, and internet culture trends
- Identify moments Brodie should participate in authentically
- Track competitors and adjacent culture brands for insight
- Bring new ideas to weekly planning conversations
- Maintain a content calendar with 2–3 weeks visibility
- Coordinate with Design on higher‑production assets when needed
- Align with Marketing Operations on registration and campaign content
- Support partnerships and announcements through social amplification
- 2–4 years of experience managing and growing Instagram accounts
- Demonstrated success driving follower growth and engagement
- Strong photography and video skills using mobile and editing tools
- Experience creating Instagram‑native content including Reels and Stories
- Deep understanding of Instagram algorithms and best practices
- Strong copywriting skills with cultural fluency
- Comfort working independently in fast‑moving environments
- Passion for basketball, community, and internet culture
- 5 days in office at our Toronto HQ - Brodie League has thrived due to a culture of collaboration and teamwork in office
The expected annual compensation range for this role is between $60,000 and $75,000 CAD. Compensation is based on skills, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and business needs. The compensation range may be adjusted in the future.
