As a multimedia editor, you will help Postmedia reach new audiences, whether by writing engaging explainers and concise breaking news stories that inform readers about what they care about, or by helping to promote the work of your colleagues.

Work with the Associate Editor, digital, and the Managing Editor, news, to help craft and implement our digital strategies for SEO, social, breaking news alerts and user generated content.

Find and write terrific stories.

• Respond to real-time search and social needs and identify the latest trends that readers are interested in. You will be able to take this information and use it to craft compelling story ideas, headlines and social sells.
• Help work on promotional plans for special projects and features based on the latest search and social trends. Analyze internal data to identify evergreen stories that should receive additional promotion.
• Responsible for staying up-to-date on how different platforms are evolving and help National Post editors adjust their strategies and workflows in response.
• Work with reporters and editors across the newsroom to explain best practices for various news gathering tools and social media.

• Ideal candidate will be passionate about finding new audiences. Whether promoting a story you’ve written, or a feature or podcast by another colleague, you’ll know how to get it to the most readers or listeners.
• Experience as an audience editor or doing similar work in another role is an asset.
• Ideal candidate should have experience with a variety of social media platforms, including Twitter, reddit and Tik Tok, and understand how the audiences differ.
• Be up to date on SEO best practices.
• Craft compelling headlines and choose the most engaging images, illustrations or gifs to grab a reader’s attention.
• A self-starter who is passionate about driving reader engagement and increasing audiences across a variety of platforms.
