About The Opportunity

As a Senior Estimator
, you will play a critical role in pursuing and securing work across an ICI (Institutional, Commercial, Industrial) portfolio. You will independently manage complex bids and tenders, develop detailed construction estimates from Class D through Class A, and provide strategic input on competitive positioning. This is a highly visible role that works closely with senior leadership, project teams, and trade partners to ensure the organization secures the right projects in the right markets.

• Lead and collaborate with members of the estimating team, providing mentorship and guidance to junior staff
• Manage moderately complex projects while maintaining strong client relationships
• Build and maintain relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders
• Research historical tender and award data to support bid strategy development
• Monitor and communicate labor and material cost trends within the construction industry
• Maintain and update subcontractor and supplier tender lists, including sourcing, qualification, performance reviews, and documentation
• Review bid and RFP invitations from public and private sources and present clear recommendations to senior leadership regarding bid pursuit
• Manage the full bid and proposal lifecycle, ensuring accurate documentation and timely submissions
• Attend site visits, walkthroughs, and project meetings as required
• Independently prepare detailed Class D to Class A construction cost estimates, including unit rates for labor, materials, equipment, general requirements, overhead, and profit
• Continuously refine estimates as drawings and documentation evolve, identifying scope changes, variances, and cost impacts
• Review project documents to identify errors, omissions, constructability issues, and risks; assess their cost implications and propose mitigation strategies
• Evaluate alternate means and methods to determine the most cost-effective solutions
• Coordinate and manage tender processes with subcontractors, consultants, clients, and internal teams
• Prepare comprehensive estimate documentation, including:
  • Project-specific bidder lists
  • Detailed scopes of work
  • Bid forms and supplementary conditions
  • Quantity take-offs
  • Drawing and document logs
  • Bid analysis and contract award recommendations

• Minimum 10 years of construction estimating experience, primarily in commercial and institutional projects
• Strong proficiency with MS Office, including advanced Excel skills (formulas, linked workbooks, cost tracking, histograms)
• Experience using MS Project for reviewing and modifying construction schedules
• Hands‑on experience with Procore, including project setup, document management, and reporting
• Experience with On‑Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Adobe, and other estimating software
• Local experience estimating interior fit‑outs, renovations, and ground‑up commercial/institutional projects as a GC or CM
• Retail, hospitality, office, and institutional estimating experience is required
• Industrial and mid-to-high‑rise residential estimating experience is considered an asset
• Highly organized with excellent time management and prioritization skills
• Adaptable, resourceful, and comfortable working in fast‑paced environments
• Strong team player with the ability to work independently
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
• Strong understanding of construction documents, construction science, sequencing, contracts, safety regulations, and applicable building codes
