Job description

Safran Landing Systems Canada is seeking a Commodity Buyer for hydraulic systems and proprietary parts, based in Toronto.

You will manage purchases for the Landing Gear & Integration Division, working with 5 global sites (Bidos and Molsheim in France, Gloucester in the UK, Toronto in Canada, and Suzhou in China), with a representative role in Toronto.

Reporting to the Commodity Manager, you will handle purchasing hydraulic systems & proprietary parts commodity. Responsibilities will include:

  • Define and implement the commodity strategy in collaboration with other departments.
  • Manage a robust supplier panel: monitor financial risks and market opportunities, ensure timely payments, and support suppliers when needed.
  • Organize sourcing activities (including carbon footprint reduction objectives and REACH transition).
  • Ensure full contract coverage by supplier, program, and site.
  • Support SPM in case of supplier failure.
  • Contribute to the financial performance of LGI and SE Divisions: cost reduction actions, renegotiation anticipation, and risk/opportunity tracking via the Performance tool.
  • Maintain accurate and timely updates in ERP and purchasing tools.
  • Promote cross-functional collaboration and knowledge capitalization.
Complementary Responsibilities
  • Develop the supply chain for new programs:
    Lead commodity purchasing activities including prospecting, launching RFQs, preparing and coordinating SSC (Supplier Selection Committee), and managing contractualization.
  • Manage specific topics for the Toronto plant:
    Handle unassigned requisitions, ensure P2P process compliance, and support TOR MRO needs (e.g., hardware).
  • Act as a key facilitator for the HSPP team within the Toronto organization.
  • For example, you may be asked to assist team members by connecting them with the right contacts within the plant or by extracting Toronto program data from PDM, while ensuring full compliance with confidentiality requirements (ITAR).
Candidate skills & requirements
  • Strong data management skills and advanced Excel knowledge.
  • Being autonomous is a major requirement for this position.
  • Rigorous, persistent, curious, and communicative.
  • At least 5 years of experience in same type of position.
  • Experience in transversal organizations and interest in an international environment.
  • Comfortable with workload tracking tools and prioritization.
  • Reactive for urgent needs while managing long-term projects.
  • Strong customer-service mindset.
  • French language skills are a plus.
Teamwork / Interpersonal Skills
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the internal organization and with suppliers.
