Position: Director, Climate Priority Sector Strategy
About the Role
A unique opportunity to participate in RBC’s Commercial Banking climate strategy, playing a key role in developing and executing the business strategy for our priority sectors. As the Director, Climate Priority Sectors Strategy, you will shape sustainable finance solutions for key industries, including Agriculture, Energy Transition, Manufacturing, Transportation, and Real Estate, while collaborating with cross‑functional teams to drive innovation and support clients in their transition to a low‑carbon economy.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as the climate lead for priority sector strategies, working closely with stakeholders across the organization to develop and implement tailored solutions.

Lead the creation and execution of long‑term business strategies, including roadmaps, partnerships, and financing solutions to support our commercial clients in their transition to a low‑carbon economy.

Translate strategic vision into actionable plans, identifying key decisions, capabilities, and processes needed for success.

Stay ahead of industry trends and innovations in climate and sustainability, ensuring alignment with broader organizational initiatives.

Establish and maintain feedback mechanisms to monitor progress and ensure strategic goals are met.

Develop and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders, communicating insights and strategies effectively.

Foster strong relationships with leaders and teams to drive buy‑in and execution of strategic initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills
Must Have:

Proven experience in developing and executing long‑term business strategies, including roadmap creation.

Deep understanding of climate‑related risks and opportunities, with the ability to apply this knowledge to client solutions.

Strong background in banking or finance, preferably in commercial banking, with knowledge of credit processes and products.

Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders to deliver integrated strategies.

Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.

Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and the ability to conduct market research and build business cases.

Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment with competing priorities and deadlines.

Nice to Have:

Advanced professional designation (e.g., master’s degree, CFA, CA) or education in a relevant field such as environmental science, sustainability, or sustainable finance.

Familiarity with climate‑related regulations and frameworks.
