About us
The Financial Aid unit in the University Registrar's Office at the University of Toronto manages the University’s administration of government financial aid programs, including the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP), as well as the awarding of funds for the University of Toronto Advanced Planning for Students (UTAPS) program, and other major financial aid programs and awards.
Your opportunityUnder general supervision of the Manager, Financial Aid Administration, the incumbent is responsible for providing administrative duties in the areas of general admissions, financial aid and awards. The incumbent supports the business processes related to the assessment of admission and financial aid files, including Full-Time OSAP and other financial aid programs. Admissions and financial aid procedures include processing applications, collecting fees;
checking documents for completeness and accuracy; data entry; screening applications against master files, and maintaining, checking and searching through automated and manual admission files. The incumbent prepares records, materials and documents for image processing to ensure secure data storage and accessibility through a computerized records management system. These functions range from working with electronic filing systems, including scanning, indexing and categorizing documents, data entry/coding of action, and verification of documents.
responsibilities will include
- Checking completeness of applications;
Verifying the accuracy and completeness of documents - Tracking and monitoring student registration and/or enrollment status
- Verifying the eligibility of applicants
- Providing information to applicants on status of application;
Providing detailed information regarding financial aid issues - Verifying the accuracy of financial aid entitlements
- Updating and maintaining database records
- Resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as required
- Acting as the first point of contact for general enquiries
- College Diploma (2 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
- Minimum two (2) years relevant experience in University financial aid administration
- Demonstrated and successful experience with large data entry volumes and workload
- Experience with a computerized records management system to identify, categorize, store, retrieve, and dispose of records
- Experience in electronic imaging and storage processes
- Familiarity with the University’s student information systems or with a comparable system
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
- Extremely good organizational ability and ability to prioritize a diverse workload required
- Ability to handle a large quantity of work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability with fast and accurate data entry; ability to exercise judgement, accuracy, and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to new practices and procedures quickly and accurately
- Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information and to ensure privacy of information is maintained at all times
- Experience with OSAP or other Financial Aid programs is an asset

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone: USW Pay Band 07 -- $60,237. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $77,035. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
