The role contributes to project reporting, financial consolidation, data accuracy, and operational follow‑up activities. The student will interact with Work Package Managers (WPMs) and internal stakeholders to collect progress data, support earned value reporting, and maintain data integrity across enterprise tools such as SAP, PCM, and SharePoint.

The position requires strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and a willingness to learn in a dynamic operational environment.

Key Accountabilities
  • Data Collection & Reporting Support:
Engage with Work Package Managers from Hitachi Rail CBTC Solutions to gather schedule progress, financial status, and updates for consolidated reporting (including basic earned value techniques).
  • Operational Data Management:
Access SAP, PCM, and SharePoint to perform data‑entry tasks such as charge code creation, corrections, timesheet follow‑up, and routine data audits under supervision of the Operations Specialist.
  • Timesheet & Compliance Support:
Monitor timesheet completion across teams, follow up with employees, support data validations, and contribute to audit readiness.
  • General Operational Support:
Provide assistance in all day‑to‑day tasks undertaken by the Operations Specialist, including information gathering, financial consolidation, preparing dashboards, and supporting internal project deliverables.
  • Stakeholder Engagement:
Interact professionally with operational, financial, and technical teams to gather information and clarify discrepancies.
  • AI Enablement Support:
Assist in demonstrating and promoting the use of AI tools within the team; no programming or technical AI development is required.
Key Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program (Business, Commerce, Engineering, or related discipline).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; comfortable engaging diverse stakeholders with professionalism and diplomacy.
  • Ability to learn and navigate enterprise systems (SAP, PCM, SharePoint).
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint.
  • Interest in data analysis, financial tracking, and operational performance.
  • Ability to work with accuracy, maintain attention to detail, and follow established processes.
  • Curiosity, adaptability, and a positive “hands‑on” attitude valued above technical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in administrative, data management, or reporting‑related work (summer job or co‑op).
  • Interest in transportation, signaling systems, or large engineering project environments.
  • Basic familiarity with earned value concepts is an asset, but not required.
