Position: SENIOR LAW CLERK (5+ years’ exerience)

Empire Life is looking to hire a Senior Law Clerk to join their Corporate Secretary team! We are actively seeking candidates to fill a new position. Supporting the Corporate Secretary, this individual will be responsible for organizing, attending and preparing meeting minutes for subsidiary shareholder meetings, board of director meetings and committee meetings. They will provide guidance and support on corporate secretarial matters, assist in regulatory obligations applicable to the corporate secretariat, manage corporate records and filings, as well as coordinate and prepare public disclosure documents.

They will also assist the legal team with M&A and financing transactions as needed. This position will be based in Toronto with a flexible hybrid work arrangement and will report to the Senior Legal Counsel and Corporate Secretary. The total target compensation (TTC) range, including salary and target bonus, is $95,920 - $144,970. This TTC range is applicable to permanent roles only;

fixed-term contract and casual roles are not eligible for annual bonus and would receive only the pro-rated base salary component.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience gained at a reputable publicly listed company. Completion of a law clerk diploma program and/or the ILCO certification is strongly preferred. They must be flexible, responsive, highly organized, exercise good judgement and work fairly autonomously. This individual will maintain a high level of professionalism, interacting with board members and the Executive team, as well as ensure consistent corporate governance standards for Empire Life.
