Public Accounting Manager

This is a hybrid position for one of the top 20 accounting firms in Canada.

As a Manager on one of Zeifmans’ dedicated teams, you will acquire a deep knowledge of the personal and business needs and goals of our clients. You can provide candid counsel on a wide range of issues, including assurance, tax, complex accounting, restructuring, acquisitions, and more. You will benefit from the experience and judgment of our senior leaders and the innovative thinking of our young associates.

  • Supervises a team of staff to ensure compliance with prescribed qualitative and quantitative standards
  • Develops the capabilities of less experienced staff through coaching, knowledge transfer, and internal training
  • Identifies and develops new business opportunities with existing clients

  • Manages material of the highest complexity, specialization or urgency in the following areas:
  • Audit

  • Notice to Readers
  • Tax
  • Maintains quality control standards throughout the assignment or project
  • Responsible for special assignments
  • Applies specialized knowledge to anticipate, identify and address issues relevant to the client’s business
• Interpersonal
  • Focuses resources and provides team leadership
  • Responsible for the financial management of assignments/projects
  • Responds effectively to client requests and suggestions relating to an assignment
• Development
  • Demonstrates an ability to keep current on new developments in the profession
  • Promotes the firm’s image as business consultants and communicates our brand
  • Develops effective working level relationships in assignments with client contacts

• 5+ years of public accounting experience

• Completion of a University Accounting degree
• Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
• Thorough understanding and experience working with the Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE), and knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Strong tax knowledge is required
• Experience leading and coaching a team
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate with external clients
• Possess strong file management skills and organization, able to manage multiple engagements simultaneously
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Experience working with accounting and tax software such as Quickbooks, Caseware, Jazz-it, Tax Prep and Simply Accounting
• Hours of Work: 35 hours per week; the role requires overtime as necessary to meet operational and professional requirements
