The Jr. Project Accountant supports the project finance team by processing daily financial transactions, assisting with cost tracking, and maintaining accurate financial records. This role helps ensure timely reporting, supports budgeting and forecasting activities, and contributes to smooth financial operations throughout the project lifecycle.
What You’ll Do Here:
Performs administrative duties ensuring all documentation regarding timesheets, equipment usage and all personnel related allowances are recorded daily or weekly as requiredEnsure receiving is processed in accounting system in a timely mannerCreate purchase requisitions ensuring correct coding and detailsProcessing of AP invoices including obtaining correct signatures and uploading to the systemUploading documents into document control systemAssist with the month end close processes (preparation of journal entries, recurring entries and accruals)Prepare monthly bank account reconciliations and coordinate with necessary Aecon divisions and shared services to deal with variancesIntercompany reconciliations, confirmation of intercompany balances and coordination of transactionsAssist with internal and external audit activities as requiredAssist with annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes as neededLiaise with other Aecon departments as requiredMaintain respect, effective communication and relationships with management and staff of all levelsPrepare HST, GST, PST, QST returns, filing and their reconciliationAccount analysis and preparation of working papers and schedulesPrepare invoices for reimbursement of seconded staff expenses working on Joint Venture projectsWhat You Bring to the Team:
Post-secondary education in Finance and/or Accounting preferred.1+ years of office related experience with knowledge of purchasing, accounts payable and payroll preferred.Actively pursuing CPA designation.Basic accounting knowledge is required.Intermediate level of computer skills in MS Word and MS Excel.Experience with SAP is an asset.Strong communication skills, ability to deal tactfully with employees, visitors and customers.Team player, be able to work independently and prioritize workload.Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.Security Clearance and Background Checks Required.

Pay Range: $50,000 - $60,000
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
