Corporate Accounting Supervisor

About the Opportunity – Corporate Accounting & Close

• Own and manage the corporate month-end and quarter-end close process
• Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules
• Prepare and/or review statutory financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, related working papers)
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial information across multiple entities
• Maintain and enhance documentation of close processes and key controls

• Supervise and provide day-to-day guidance to:
• 1 Accounting Co-op (rotating annually; next transition in August)
• 1 Remote Corporate/Site Accountant responsible for multiple entities
• Review work prepared by direct reports, provide feedback and coaching, and ensure adherence to deadlines and quality standards
• Help coordinate workload, prioritize tasks, and support the transition period as the incumbent ramps down for leave

• Work extensively in SAP (heavy ERP usage) for postings, reporting, reconciliations, and analysis
• Identify opportunities to streamline corporate accounting processes and improve efficiency where possible
• Support maintenance of internal control documentation (including SOX-related activities where applicable)

• Collaborate closely with the Director and broader finance team to support corporate reporting requirements
• Respond to ad-hoc requests from finance leadership and other internal stakeholders
• Support knowledge transfer and documentation to facilitate smooth handover at both the start and end of the contract

• Solid corporate accounting experience in an in-house finance team and/or public accounting firm
• Demonstrated ownership of full-cycle month-end and quarter-end close
• Hands‑on experience with:
• Journal entries and accruals
• Balance sheet and income statement preparation/review
• Statutory financial statements and related working papers
• Prior experience supervising or leading other accounting staff (e.g., staff accountant, junior accountant, co‑op)
• Strong SAP experience (or comparable large ERP) – able to step into a SAP-heavy environment with minimal training
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to clearly explain accounting matters to non-technical stakeholders

• Experience in mining, natural resources, or a similar capital-intensive industry
• SOX or internal controls experience
• CPA designation (Canadian or foreign equivalent)
• Prior contract/consulting experience in corporate accounting roles
