Job Details

This diverse team of professionals are dedicated to exceeding clients’ unique needs within a rapidly evolving business and financial reporting landscape. As a trusted advisor, you’ll collaborate on a range of technical projects, such as new accounting standard implementation, acquisition accounting, revenue recognition, complex transaction accounting and initial public offering (IPO) readiness.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical accounting advisory services, including understanding and addressing the implications of significant transactions, new accounting standards, and frameworks on financial reporting mandates and business objectives
  • Support clients in their go-public journey, including developing go-public strategies, establishing milestones and deliverables, and preparing financial information for regulatory compliance
  • Perform technical accounting research, prepare documentation for clients, and identify accounting issues within contracts and agreements
  • Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback and addressing performance issues promptly
  • Prepare financial statements and corresponding notes
  • Apply knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise (ASPE)
  • Collaborate with MNP’s Corporate Finance, Tax, Valuation, Forensics, and Litigation Support teams to offer comprehensive, collaborative services
  • Update senior manager or engagement partner on the progress of engagements
  • Prepare professional correspondence, technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining findings, facts and highlights resulting from the client engagement
  • Develop and maintain relationships with client management
  • Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
  • Lead engagement teams while coaching and mentoring team members
  • Attend internal MNP courses to further develop accounting knowledge
  • Promote regular attendance, balanced lifestyle and high standard of team wellness
  • Conduct formal, written annual performance reviews
  • Raise awareness of MNP through discussions at community events including client and company sponsored functions
  • Network in the local business community and consider business development opportunities
Skills And Experience
  • Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • 4 to 6 years of relevant work experience in public accounting
  • Experience in auditing public companies in Canada or in the US
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience working with US GAAP, IFRS and ASPE accounting standards
  • Experience leading, managing and mentoring team members
  • Experience leading client engagements and interacting directly with clients
  • Experience with proposals and business development
  • Experience dealing with Canadian and US securities regulators is an asset
  • Solid understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
  • Strong computer literacy including effective working skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Some travel may be required
