About the Opportunity Accounting & Finance (45%)
- Maintains capital asset schedule
- Prepares A/P sub-ledger and general ledger review.
- Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations
- Maintains the intercompany billings
- Prepares working papers for year-end audit and participates in audit, including providing transaction support as requested by auditors
- Prepares entries to record month end accrual into the financial system
- Prepares entries to set up Prepaid Assets and to record expenses when appropriate
- Participates in onboarding new staff
- Looks for options and ideas to increase efficiency and improve systems and processes
- Participates in the development of accounting policies and procedures.
- Processes Accounts Payable; creates and submits vouchers for approval in People Soft
- Conducts accounts payable invoice review
- Runs the Pay Cycle in People Soft
- Processes Accounts Payable
- Communicates with vendors regarding payments or discrepancies.
- Prepares payments through various methods through RBC and other service providers
- Maintenance of Procurement Policy
- Conducts a compliance review related to Procurement Policy and presents findings
- Reviews and confirms Purchase Orders
- Reviews outstanding Purchase Orders and confirms validity
- Prepares monthly reconciliation of travel point(s).
- Processes Accounts Receivable; prepares, sends, and records invoices
- Monitors aged receivables and follows up as necessary
- Prepares HST and QST filings, coordinates review and approval and submits filings once approval is received
- A bachelor’s degree in finance/commerce/administration or relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Minimum two years of prior work experience in day-to-day operational accounting.
- Understanding of Accounting principles
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
- Strong ability to meet deadlines.
- Keen attention to detail.
- High level of professionalism, including strict adherence to confidentiality.
- Strong customer service, negotiating, and conflict resolution skills required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with a preference to working as part of a team for a diverse group of individuals with competing priorities
- Strong computer skills in word processing and spreadsheet applications, including data manipulation; proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS Excel preferred, as well as a willingness to learn computer software programs as required
$25 - $27 per hour
